The design of a yarn tension controller is disclosed. It consists of pins and a pin support disc together with a drive disc. The drive disc can have a roughened surface on its circumference to provide resistance to air or nitrogen blown against it to rotate it. The contact angle (and therefore the friction) between the yarn and pins change as the applied air flow changes or as the tension applied to the yarn changes.
