A method for controlling the quality of a plied yarn during production on a two for one twisting machine is claimed. It is characterized by: detecting the lack of at least one individual yarn ply making up the moving yarn which is winding onto a bobbin at a spindle exit; recognizing the presence of a portion of tangled yarn accidentally superposed on the plied/twisted yarn during regular production; and detecting any reduction in spindle disc speed in that the reduction results in insufficient twist being applied to the yarn, the twisting of which is non-uniform so as to ruin both the appearance of the yarn and its strength, which leads to breakages during the subsequent use of the yarn.
