Developments in cotton preparation for spinning are outlined. Testing by HVI-lines and microdenier staple fibres have contributed to quality enhancement worldwide, but the basic requirements for spinning preparation have changed little. Opening, cleaning and blending processes and described in relation to trends in spinning.
