Barco's Opti-Twist sensor for real-time measurement of twist on a per-spindle basis and ends-down detection is described. The capabilities of the system are outlined. Cost and technical justifications of investment in the system are considered. The Opti-Twist can be integrated with a plant-wide CIM system such as the Barco Sycotex system.
