A SITRA survey discovered that many spinning mills are not achieving anticipated production efficiency with drawing frames and fly frames. A number of production issues address correction of this deficiency. To improve machine delivery speed, the speed of each machine must conform to prescribed standards and must be properly maintained. To increase production time, adequate quantities of required feed materials should be near the machinery. Additionally, operators need to begin shifts in a timely fashion and stay at their posts throughout their shift. To improve production efficiency, provision of adequate training is critical for equipment operators, and the number of machines assigned per operator should be optimized. Hank indicator readings and doff weight are parameters used to assess production efficiency.
