Loepfe's SliverMaster System monitors sliver quality during drawing, carding, and combing processes. An online optical device illuminates the sliver during processes. An online optical device illuminates the sliver during processing. The optical system divides the incident light into reflected, absorbed, and transmitted components. A sensor determines the amount of transmitted light, a value that is related to sliver density. As many as 16 SliverMaster stations can be networked to a central computer that processes the raw data and produces reports and diagrams. Analysis of the data permits a quick assessment of quality and indicates changes in processing parameters necessary to optimize production.
