At ITMA 1995, Belroy unveiled a new British short staple fiber spinning system for manufacturing fine yarns. Belroy created the SpinWell friction spinning machine as an alternative for mills seeking the ability to spin high quality fine yarns at high speeds with low operator overhead. The SpinWell incorporates components that are easy to assemble to accurate tolerances and a machine design that is easier to automate than rotor spinning machines. Because it is the forming yarn rather than the mechanical parts that revolves at very high speed, the SpinWell is faster than rotor spinning machines and yields a substantial increase in delivery speed. In the United Kingdom, there are currently no domestic manufacturers of short staple fiber spinning machines for fine yarns. Belroy has begun to examine several business options, including building a 300 position machine, selling ready-made SpinWells, and licensing the SpinWell Technology.
