The Effect of a Slub on the Stability of the Ring-Spinning Balloon.

In a previous paper, which includes a computational model for investigating the effect of a heavy slub passing through a ring spinning balloon, researchers modeled the additional mass in the slub with a Gaussian distribution function that represented the total mass and length of the slub with two independent variables. Here, the researchers have extended that theoretical model to more realistic slubs, allowing for the effect of the control ring at mid balloon height, and conducted a further investigation into its solutin space. Free balloon results demonstrated a marked dependence on the total mass in the slub, although they exhibited much less dependence on either slub length or shape. 25 refs.
