Premier Polytronics Limited developed the Micro 2000 yarn clearer. The Micro 2000 features an additional channel to detect thin places, a nep channel to detect very short thick places, clearing of faulty third ply yarn winding, automatic correction, a definite clearing curve, winding speed tracking, liquid crystal display, computer networking, and cone fault alarm systems. Optimum setting of the Micro 2000 yarn clearer depends on the fault distribution and end use of the yarn. Although yarn clearers reduce productivity, higher prices based on improved yarn quality compensate manufacturers for the reduced productivity of yarn clearers.
