Automation of the production processes offers the European spinning industry high standards of quality and low production costs. Automation can increase production and reduce labor costs. Automation (automatic doffing and link cone winding) combined with the use of improved packages offers increased productivity. The automation on Marzoli's lap transfer LTX1 consists of an overhead circuit that runs above the combing machines. A single robot runs continuously along this circuit, constantly supplying laps to the coming machines and returing the empty tubes to the sliver draw winding machines. An automatic flyer/ring spinning frame for random creeling allows maximum use of the diameter of the bobbins on the flyer, a 7 percent decrease in energy consumption, and no loss of roving on the tubes. Graphs illustrate production increases and labor cost reductions for various levels of automation.
