An Elitex BD200M rotor spinning machine (without a dust removal system) has been used as a means of measuring the amount of dust in finisher sliver supplied to rotor machines, so indicating the efficiency of opening room equipment and cards. Data collected over a period of ten years from industrially-prepared sliver tested in this way has been analysed. Histograms show ledge and rotor deposits.
