Quality assurance in the production of spun yarns

As spinning techniques become ever more complex and production rates increase, classic yarn testing and fault elimination methods are no longer adequate and must be supplemented by other methods. Quality competence analysis can help here. This begins with an examination of the concept for a yarn with regard to its suitability in principle for its intended end-use, incldues a Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and ends with a consideration of Statistical Process Control. The application of FMEA in spinning is discussed. Documentation of quality assurance measures is also discussed.
