A study investigated the influence of air jet and ring spun yarns on polyester viscose fabrics woven on Dornier rapier looms. Fabrics woven from ring spun yarn showed a slightly lower level of thickness when compared with fabrics woven with air jet spun yarn. Fabrics woven from air jet spun yarns showed higher bending length and flexural rigidity when compared with fabrics woven from ring spun yarns. Fabrics woven from ring spun yarns offered a lower drape coefficient. Fabrics woven from air jet spun yarns showed lower tensile strength than fabrics woven from ring spun yarns. Fabrics woven from ring spun yarns showed higher abrasion resistance than fabrics woven from air jet yarns. Fabrics woven from ring spun yarns offered a lower crease recovery and demonstrated a higher propensity to pilling than fabrics woven from air jet spun yarns. 8 refs.
