Components of automated materials transport systems in rotor spinning mills are described. Systems for transporting cans from drawframe to drawframe and from drawframe to rotor spinning machine are discussed. Cans are transported from drawframe to spinning machine using specially designed and arranged cans and either continuous conveyor systems or driverless cars. Systems for transporting yarn packages from the rotor spinning machine to downstream processes or packing operations are discussed. The design of one such system, Rieter's Servocone System, is described. The Servocone system consists of driverless cars suspended on an overhead rail. Servocone System designs for delivering yarn packages into containers or onto pallets are available.
