Lenzing developed lyocell fibers with longer crystallites, less clustering of crystalline areas, and shorter and better oriented amorphous sections than conventional cellulosic fibers. Lyocell offers good dimensional stability, high absorption, and good dyeability. Manufacturers can spin lyocell via ring, rotor, and air jet spinning machines. Applications include apparel, knit, and home furnishing fabrics. 6 refs.
