Processing of polyester/cotton blends using a new blending method: some observations

Yarns produced from the new sliver lap blending method are stronger (by 5％) when compared with traditionally blended yarns. The variation in strength and also the number of weak places was found to be 40-50％ less for sliver lap blended yarns. The Uster imperfections (frequent yarn faults) were 25-45％ better for sliver lap blended yarns, and the long thick and thin faults were better by 30-40％ according to the Uster Classimat system. The manufacturing cost of the sliver lap belnded yarns was 1.3 rupees per kg higher.
