Blending viscose rayon with rabbit hair improved spinnability. Increasing the percentage of rayon in the blend improved the strength of the blend. A 75/25 rayon/rabbit hair blend resulted in maximum fiber strength. Rayon offered better cohesiveness than did rabbit hair, allowing more twist to be inserted in the blended yarn during spinning. Researchers concluded that expensive speciality fibers can be blended with rayon to reduce costs and increase potential applications. The rabbit hair/rayon fiber offered a soft hand, warmth, and visual appeal. 3 refs.
