Conventional slip draft sliver spinning of jute fibers occurs via either two-legged flyer sliver spinning or apron control slip-draft tubular flyer sliver spinning. These methods, however, are not suitable for manufacturing very fine count yarns. Finest yarn counts achievable on the two legged slip draft and apron draft systems are approximately 6 pounds per spy and 4 pounds per spy, respectively. Maximum spinning rates for each system are approximately 30 meters per minute. Such alternative processes as ring spinning, twistless spinning, open end spinning, friction spinning, wrap spinning, Mackies's Spin Mack, and Suessen's Parafil spinning improve jute yarn's fineness and production rates. DREF 2 spinning manufactures very useful core and decorative jute yarns. Suessen's Parafil wrap spinning manufactures the finest count jute yarns. 15 refs.
