Researchers tested the effects of carding, combing, and ring spinning on the strength and evenness of micropolyester/cotton ring spun yarns. Compared with S cotton, DCH-32 cotton provided better strength and evenness in the micropolyester/cotton blend. When carding the micropolyester fiber, a lower cylinder speed and wire points R-2520 X 0.7 offered good yarn regularity and fewer yarn faults and imperfections. A higher percentage of noil reduced yarn imperfections and Classimat faults. The ring frame had little effect on the yarn parameters. 8 refs.
