This paper discussed the spinning of electric anti-static or conductive yarns using short-staple stainless steel fibres. The filaments of stainless steel were made from local industry and offered to be stretch-broken into stainless steel slivers by using a designed drawing machine. The electric specific resistance of stainless steel substances including slivers, yarns, fabrics was measured to assess the possibility of yarn or fabrics used for preventing trouble and accidents due to static electricity. Ring spun and OE-spun yarns were produced and the comparison of anti-static or conductive properties of these yarns and fabrics also made.
