Suessen's PLYFil yarn manufacturing system uses air entanglement to manufacture two end yarn assemblies. The two ends are then twisted on a two-for-one twisting machine. The PLYFil spinning procress operates at 300 meters per minute, ofers a very high drafting ratio, and has a takeup rate of 800 grs. Conventional spinning processes, such as the Sirospun method, operate at 15 meters per minute and have takeup rates of 150 grs. The PLYFil process can also be used to manufacture Lycra spandex elastic yarns. The PLYFil process convers the Lycra spandex yarn with filbers to protect them during weaving. It can produce 2 kilogram yarn packages with few splices. The PLYFil elastic yarns are very homogeneous and have a standard deviation of 0.2 percent.
