A history of the development of Schlafhorst's Autocoro open end rotor spinning machines begins in 1807, when the first patent was submitted for this technology in Great Britain. Implementation of this concept, however, did not occur until 1965, when the first generation was introduced. Schlafhorst was not involved in the manufacture of these machines until the development of the second generation, which was notable for higher productivity and yarn quality. Its Autoconer System 238 Type K represented this second generation. Schlafhorst's third generation introduction was the Autocoro in 1978, characterized by a high level of automation and control.
