Advances in yarn formation machinery shown at the OTEMAS '97 exhibition in Kyoto are surveyed. These included Murata Machinery's No. 851 MVS Murata Vortex Spinner and Schlafhorst's Autoconer 338. Developments in man-made fibre extrusion, texturing and twisting, testing and fault detection, blowroom equipment, sliver processing, spinning and accessories are described.
