Details are reported of a project entitled 'Flexibility-orientated control information systems for the small/medium sized sector of the textile industry' carried out by the Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg, Germany in cooperation with CuBuss GmbH. The project investigated and modelled the determination of raw material requirements and the calculation of throughput time, taking into account the waste loss at every stage of the staple yarn spinning process.
