The increasing interest of Japanese spinning companies in environmentally friendly technology and products is noted. Shikibo is to promote the development of cotton varieties which use less agricultura chemicals and to promote recycling and resource saving activities more. Daiwabo is also looking to expand in the area of 'chemical free' organic cotton. Kurabo is marketing fabrics made from cotton waste and recycled polyester, and has also developed a mud-dyeing technique. Toa Woolen Spg and Wvg has opened a recycling centre.
