literature was examined and the data was utilized to develop prediction equations for cotton fiber quality as a function of input lint moisture, foreign matter content, fiber length and strength, batt weight, saw cylinder diameter and speed, feed rate, saw loading and combing ratio. fiber properties investigated include length, strength, micronaire, color and neps content. equations were developed for a system of lint cleaners, where the number of lint cleaners is an independent variable. these equations will be used to develop a computer simulation model that predicts the fiber properties of the cotton that has passed through one, two, three, or four stages of lint cleaning.
