the raw material costs situation is compelling cotton spinners to look for ways to make better use of their feedstock. various approaches are pointed out and discussed in this article, including optimized machine settings, use of machines with higher cleaning efficiency and recycling machine wastes. an examination of the economics reveals that with a spinning output of 600 kg/h, important savings on raw materials due to waste recycling may be achieved. 2 refs
