cotton dust contains a large organic fraction which can be digested anaerobically to obtain a stable product which can be used as a manure in addition to the biogas produced, which can be used as fuel. laboratory studies on anaerobic digestion of cotton dust were carried out for one year. the volatile solids destruction ranged between 30. 6 to 54. 1 at a loading rate of 2. 1 kg volatile solids/m**3/day at a detention time of 25 days. the gas production ranged between 0. 508 m**3/kg vs added/day in summer to 0. 202 m**3/kg vs added/day in winter. the studies indicated the necessity of careful operation of the process. 5 refs
