Spinning of lyocell

The rotor and ring spinning of lyocell, solvent-spun cellulose fibre, into yarns is compared with the spinning of cotton. It is shown that lyocell requires less energy per kg of yarn, uses less raw material and that it does not require any special effort if the fibre and machines are optimised. Information is also provided on the benefits of the filbrillation property of the fibre and on new opportunities for innovative fibre and products.
