Count variations in yarn arise from drawing, blow room processing, and spinning. Drawing accounts for 50 percent of the variation and blow room processing accounts for 13 percent. The quality of the raw material also plays a decisive role in yarn quality and count variation. Improved process controls in opening, efficient fiber control during drafting, and advanced spinning machine design increase yarn quality. Short fibers, count variation, twist variation, maturity, color variation, and hairiness all contribute to fabric barre. Fiber length, fiber length uniformity, micronaire, and fiber strength all influence yarn strength.
