Technological developments in yarn manufacturing will lead to increased speeds and improved fiber processing. Machinery manufacturers are working on developments that will allow for the processing of fine, superfine, and microdenier fibers. Notable developments include Murata's Vortex spinning machine for spinning 100 percent cotton at speeds of up to 350 meters per minute; Rieter's Comforspin, or Com4Spin, compact spinning machine with improved fiber assembly; and Suessen's new drafting element for its FIOMAX ring spinning machines. Other developments include winding machines from Savio and Murata. Savio, which manufactures Espero winding machines, is involved in number of linked ring spinning projects. It also has a renewed interest in splicing technology. Advances in carding machines are expected from Trutzschler, Rieter, Marzolli, and Crosrol.
