Solospun yarns are a versatile and cost effective alternative to two-ply yarns. Solospun yarns offer such advantages as efficiency, productivity, and return on investment. Because there are no twisting costs, overall yarn conversion costs are reduced. For example, an Nm 32/1 Solospun yarn would be 55 percent less costly than a conventional Nm 64/2 yarn. In certain applications, coarser wool fibers may be used, thereby increasing the advantages, Spinning mill trials confirmed the weaving efficiencies of Solospun yarns in the Nm 20/1 to Nm 30/1 yarn count range.
