Improving automation in yarn manufacturing requires the shortening of processes, monitoring breakdowns, and using micro-processor controls. Information systems, such as Truetzschler's Carding Information System and Centralinformator, a process guiding system, are examples of improvements in automation that will be displayed at ITMA 1991. The large data systems initially introduced into the textile industry are too cumbersome to achieve cost-effective production. Instead, interconnecting data exchange, the coupling of machines, and testing sensors and activators are needed. Further improvements in the automation of spinning and yarn processing requires closer communication between machine designers and end-product manufacturers.
