Constant and vigilant mill maintenance procedures must be followed to minimize equipment downtime, to increase production rates, and to achieve better quality control. The number of yarn-production steps to monitor has increased due to the adoption of sophisticated shuttleless looms. Various mill maintenance schedules, exemplified in such quality-control parameters as cleaning efficiency, lap rejection. Iubrication points, and scutcher synchronization, are examined. Additional parameters for carding (low nep count, microtrash removal, minimum fly generation, and uniform web and sliver formation), drawn and ring frames, simplex processors, cots, and pneumatic regulators are listed. 2 refs.
