The appropriateness of a spinning system is determined by first examining the factors governing yarn quality and structure: fiber orientation during twisting, the means of inserting the twist, and the twist level. Customers select spinning systems based on the yarn quality desired, the reliability of the machine at high levels of automation, and the system's versatility. Ring spinning was improved with the advent of yarn splicing technology and the linkage between the ringframe and winder. Rotor spinning continues to grow because it does not produce yarn tension and it yields greater yarn uniformity. Air-jet and friction spinning yield limited yarn structures but may find more applications in the future. Trade Literature.
