Melton, a yarn manufacturing company located in Cranston, Rhode Island, manufactures metallic yarns and Retroglo reflective yarn for apparel applications. The company also provides custom slitting of film, foil, and other materials. Metallic yarn manufacturing involves slitting rolls of film or lamination 30 inches wide into narrow rolls 2-5 inches wide. The narrow rolls are then slit again and taken up on spools for shipment to textile mills. Melton manufactures metallic yarns in red, blue, green, gold, and silver. Its Retroglo reflective yarns are used in woven, knit, and braided high fashion apparel and outerwear. The yarn features 50,000 glass beads per squard inch that refect light back to its source.
