Small-Scale Jute Spinnging: An Analysis.

Researchers evaluated the technical feasibility and prospects of a mall scale jute spinning system. The study described jute fiber characteristics, spinning process sequences, machine layout, and essential quality contorl functions. A pilot plant located in southern India manufactured fine jute and jute blend yarns for the study. Fiber softening with an oil and water emulsion minimized breakage during processing. The processing sequence included cutting, carding, drawing, spinning, reeling, plying, and twisting. Quality control functions included testing, monitoring and controlling yarn parameters and properties.
