Toray has developed a computer integrated manufacturing system for use in yarn spinning plants. The company plans to market the system primarily in southeast Asia. The system is capable of automating a wide range of operations, which include resin pellet processing, spinning, winding, inspection, and packaging. A host computer controls all production parameters. The system integrates several Toray machines that were originally designed to operate as single units.
