The progressive automation of yarn processing preparation operations is described. The programmable Blendomat BDT bale opener automatically strips a bale stock of up to 180 bales. An operator can allocate bales with various properties to different cleaning and opening lines. The Cleaner RST, the first fully computer controlled cleaner in the world, features a three-cylinder system with three cleaner positions. The Exactacard DK is a high production card controlled by the Speedcommander SPC computer. The operation of these machines and the use of data systems in the automatic operation of a blowroom, carding area, and cleaning line are described. 1 ref.
