The variations in thickness of slivers drafted with a drawing frame were measured with an evenness tester, and the bispectra of the sliver were calculated. The bispectrum of a mathematically ideal sliver made of fiber of uniform staple length was obtained. The bispectra of a random sliver and two pseudo-random slivers, which were generated by computer simulation, were not very different in shape from the bispectrum of the ideal sliver. Irregularities were affected by the distribution type and the size of fiber clusters in the sliver. 7 refs.
