The outlook for short staple spinning in the 1990s indicates increased interest in ring and open end rotor spinning, especially as the demand for fine yarns grows. As ring spinning gains in productivity, rotor spinning will have to concentrate on knitting and coarse count areas to maintain the price gap between rotor and ring yarns. All systems will be supported by increased automation.
