SKF's Lab-Spinner is a spinning machine for use in a laboratory to test new spinning protocols or to design new yarns. The individual Motor Drive System (IMDS) drives the spindles and the drafting unit. All production parameters can be simulated. A servo guide finely coordinates the traverse movements of the ring rail/balloon control and the thread guides. Maximum flexibility characterizes the drafting unit, which has infinite adjustability between 33 and 90 degrees. The Lab-Spinner can be equipped with a bank creel for speed frame or rubbing frame bobbins, or with a feed creel for ribbon spinning. A Lap Top PC operates the Lab-Spinner via interactive dialogue. The computer controls such spinning parameters as yarn count, roving count, yarn twist, twist factor, feed, and draft.
