The RingCan is a sliver-to-yarn spinning machine with a three-roll drafting system capable of optimal back and front roll speeds. The total draft is limited to about 200. A top arm that can guide the top rolls precisely is requisite. To achieve drafts higher than 200, sliver can be drafted higher on the drawframe. A sliver transport system, consisting of a set of covers and a tape running at the same speed as the back roll, protects these fine slivers from the can to the drafting system. With this system, fine combed cotton yarns of up to about Ne 80/1 can be spun. Yarn quality is higher because the roving frame, which causes unevenness, is eliminated, and because it is easier to draft an assembly of parallel fibers evenly.
