Automatic bale blending machines process up to 1,500 kilograms of cotton fiber per hour. Oblique angled opening improves the distribution of cotton tuft density as the various bales are blended, which improves control over count variations in the card sliver. Saw tooth opening machines more effectively clean the speed coats from saw ginned cotton. The Indian cotton industry recently acquired colored fiber detectors and eliminators manufactured by Trutzschler and Zellweger. Modern carding machines achieve production rates of 100 kilograms per hour while preserving carding quality. Fixed sets of flats on the front and back, additional mote knives, and continuous suction of trash and dust improve the capacity of Rieter and Trutzschler carding machines. Advancements in drawing, combing, speed frame, and ring spinning machines are also discussed.
