The textile machinery production gives Switzerland a powerful role on the world textile machinery scene. With their new attitudes to the manufacturing processes and the business organisation, the Swiss textile machinery producers substituted the earlier goal 'production' for the new goal 'profit'. This way Switzerland has been able to combine effectively its engineering expertise and the 'know-how' with its traditional power in banking and finance, to create mega-companies that wield great power in both technical and economic sense. This article presents a review of the most recent technical innovations and commercial initiatives launched by the Swiss textile machine manufacturers in the spinning sector. This sector has been chosen as one of the most abundant in respect to the number of different machine types, as well as because of impressive characteristics of Swiss spinning textile machinery known all over the world.
