Microfiber yarns improve the appearance, softness, and drape of woven fabrics. The manufacture of microdenier fibers requires highly selected polymerization, polymers, and extrusion methods. Unconventional spinning technologies can produce microfilament yarns at a high rate, partially offsetting their higher costs.
