Discusses the parameters used to express yarn unevenness and how to control them. The effect of fibre properties and process parameters on the evenness of sliver, roving and yarn are outlined. The causes of yarn irregularity fall into four main groups: properties of raw materials; shortcomings in yarn making and preparation; defective machinery; and poor working conditions/housekeeping.
