The Bombay Textile Research Association (BTRA) developed a system to manufacture ground slub yarns, wrap yarns, and base effect slub or flame type yarns on a rotor spinning machine. The BTRA Rotoslub comprises a servomotor with quick response, microprocessor controller system, power supply, gearing unit, and keyboard for data entry. The BTRA Rotoslub manufactures conventional and novelty yarns. The microprocessor guarantees reliable manufacture of specified slub length and occurrence. To manufacture warp spun yarn on open end rotor spinning machines, a simple attachment takes a filament yarn from the package through a tensioner and feeds it directly to the fiber feed tube through a brass nozzle. The system accommodates textured filament yarns of up to 40 denier. In addition to the microprocessor controlled servomotor drive system, pressurized air can be used for manufacturing round slub or flame type yarns. 6 refs.
