A review of opening and carding machinery shown at ITMA 1999, in Paris, addresses trends in blowroom equipment, auxiliary equipment, carding machines, card clothing, and cans. Trutzschler GmbH showed its Blendomat BDT 020 and Cleanomat bale plucking machines. Jossi Systems displayed its Argus Fire Control spark diverter, which prevents fires in the blowroom. Barco NV Automation's Cotton Sorter is a real time system for removing foreign particles from cotton tufts. Zellweger Uster's Uster HVI Spectrum analyzes and classifies cotton bales quickly and efficiently according to international standards. Rieter showed its C51 carding machine publicly for the first time and its IGS line of automatic grinding units. James Holdsworth and Brothers, English Card Clothing, and Indian Card Clothing displayed new lines for next generation carding machines. Key can manufactuer exhibits included Rosink GmbH, Suroy Feres, and Rimtex.
