The development and current status of high-speed spinning are reviewed. Yarn orientation is discussed with regard to fully drawn yarns and higher productivity. Mathematical modeling is used to further improve high-speed spinning. The limitations of spinning at speeds higher than 6000 meters/minute, such as fiber structure formation, winding, yarn properties, and economy, are noted. 29 refs.
